Minh Nguyen has been operating as the Creative Director of Dr Delphinium Designs and Events in Dallas, TX since 2012. Though Minh has spent many years in the floral industry, his love of flowers and creativity began at a young age, stemming from his childhood in Vietnam.
Minh grew up in the city of Da Lat, dubbed the City of a Thousand Flowers for its extensive floral production and export, as well as stunning flower-filled fields. Growing up surrounded by the incredible variety of flowers, Minh’s interest was piqued, guiding the trajectory of his life.
His family moved to the United States in 1994 during Minh’s teen years and settled in Dallas, TX. Not long after moving, Minh began working at a large retailer in their floral department. There he was able to explore his creativity and start his career in floral design. Eager to expand his career, Minh subscribed to a floristry magazine and began looking at the top floral shops in Dallas. This is where he found Dr Delphinium, then a small floral shop on Lovers Lane. Minh applied for an open designer position 2 weeks before Valentine’s Day, and although he claims they were desperate to hire designers, a better phrase might be “right place at the right time”. In 2000, Minh began as a designer at Dr Delphinium and hasn’t looked back since. And although he holds a bachelor degree in Interior Designs from the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington and a graduate degree in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary, Minh’s love of flowers ultimately won out.
Minh is known for his modern and creative approach to contemporary floristry. Much of the inspiration for his designs are pulled from his love of architecture, gardening, nature, interior design and his childhood in Vietnam. Minh’s designs have been featured around the city of Dallas at locations such as the HALL Arts Hotel, Café Pacific in Highland Park Village, and designer stores such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Balenciaga. His commissioned works for the Kimbell Art Museum have been displayed at North Park Center and the Shops at Clearfork. Minh also regularly designs for the private residences of high power and well known individuals in and around the Dallas metroplex.
